Current flood warnings in effect for Naples, Collier County

A severe flood warning is in effect for Collier County until 8 a.m. Thursday June 13.

Slow moving thunderstorms are casuing very heavy rainfall around the area. You may see flooding of rivers, creeks, streams,and other low-lying flood-prone environments.

Look out for extreme flash floods throughout the night.

Roads around the area may be closed due to flooding. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.

What's the difference between a flood watch and a flood warning?

A flood watch is issued when flooding might happen.

A flood warning is issued when flooding is imminent or occurring.

Collier County is under a flood watch until Friday evening, but there's also a flood warning currently in place. The flood warning expires tomorrow morning.

More rain in forecast for Wednesday night, Thursday

More rain is expected tonight and Thursday, according to the latest National Weather Service forecast for Collier County.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely after 10 p.m. tonight and could bring 1-2 inches of rain, while an 80% chance of rain Thursday could bring an additional one to two inches of precipitation.

A flood advisory is in effect for Collier County until 8 p.m.

NWS issues special weather statement for Collier County

At 4:28 p.m., the National Weather Service in Miami issued a Special Weather Statement for Collier County.

NWS meteorologists were tracking a strong radar-indicated thunderstorm 7 miles west of Loop Road Ee Center, or 17 miles east of Chokoloskee, moving east at 20 mph.

The storm could bring winds in excess of 40 mph and gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects, the weather service warned.

  • Big Cypress National Preserve
  • Dade-Collier Training Airport
  • Fortymile Bend
  • Everglades National Park

Naples roads closed due to flooding

As of 4 p.m., Trade Center Way and Shirley Street at Pine Ridge Road are closed due to flooding from heavy rains, the Collier County Sheriff's Office reported.

Flash flood warning for Collier County extended

A flash flood warning for southeastern Collier County has been extended until 5:45 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, at 3:51 p.m. Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Big Cypress National Preserve is expected to experience flash flooding, the NWS said.

Is Collier under a flash flood warning?

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for East Central Collier County. The warning is in effect until 3:15 p.m.

There's been three to five inches of rain so far with an expected rainfall rate of four to six inches in one hour.

Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. It'll impact small creeks, streams, urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and poor drainage in low-lying areas.

Big Cypress National Preserve is expected to experience flash flooding.

Is Collier experiencing any flooding?

There's a flood advisory in effect for Collier County until 2 p.m. today.

Collier has gotten between two and three inches of rain today and forecasters expect an additional one to three inches today. The additional rain will result in minor flooding.

There was a "radar confirmed" tornado at the section of Alligator Alley near the Miccosukee Service Plaza earlier today. The tornado warning has since expired.

How many inches of rain did Naples get yesterday?

According to the National Weather Service, Naples had 3.9 inches of rain on Tuesday June 11.

This amount of rain sets a new record for daily maximum rainfall in the city. The previous record was set in 2005 with 2.8 inches.

Is there still a flood watch in effect for Collier County?

Coastal Collier County is under a flood watch until midnight on Friday June 14.
